1) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched Ladli Laxmi schme-2.0 during a state-level function at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

2) President Ram Nath Kovind conferred 13 Shaurya Chakras, including six posthumous, and 14 Param Vishisht Seva Medals to the personnel of the Armed Forces at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi

3) Four Indian photographers from Reuters news agency, the late Danish Siddiqui, Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo and Amit Dave won this year's Pulitzer Prize for feature photography for their coverage of the Covid-19 crisis in India.

➨In 1937, Gobind Behari Lal became the first Indian to win a Pulitzer.

➨The award is named after Joseph Pulitzer who in the late 1860s joined the German-language daily newspaper Westliche Post.

4) The Supreme Court ordered that the 152-year-old sedition law under Section 124A of the Indian Penal Code should be effectively kept in abeyance till the Union Government reconsiders the provision.

5) Union Minister for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Narayan Rane, inaugurated the Centre for Excellence for Khadi in New Delhi.

➨ The aim of building this centre, an idea conceived by the MSME Ministry is to empower Khadi institutions.

6) Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu, released a book titled "The Struggle for Police Reforms in India: Ruler’s Police to People’s Police" authored by a former IPS officer, Prakash Singh.

7) May 12 is observed as International Nurses’ Day across the world to honour the services of nurses. It is the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the English social reformer, statistician and founder of modern nursing.

➨This year, the theme for Nurses Day is "Nurses: A Voice to Lead – Invest in Nursing and respect rights to secure global health."

8) Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla launched the Kalam website, a literary initiative by the Prabha Khaitan Foundation (PKF) to support and encourage vernacular literature.

➨ The PKF is a Kolkata-based non profit trust, dedicated to socio-cultural welfare and humanitarian causes.

9) Renowned santoor player Pt Shivkumar Sharma, who took the stringed instrument to the global stage died in Mumbai following a heart attack. He was 84.

➨ A Padma Vibhushan recipient, Pt Shivkumar Sharma was born in Jammu in 1938.

10) NSDL Database Management Ltd (NDML), a wholly-owned subsidiary of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL), has been granted recognition as an accreditation agency by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi).

11) India has been unanimously elected as the new Chair of the Association of Asian Election Authorities (AAEA) for 2022-2024.

➨The mission of the AAEA is to provide a non-partisan forum in the Asian region for sharing experiences and best practices among election authorities.

12) A three-day Utkarsh Mahotsav was organized by Central Sanskrit University in New Delhi. ➨ The objective behind organising the Utkarsh Mahotsav is to promote Sanskrit language across the country and beyond. 

➨ The focus of the Mahotsav is – the New Educational Era – Moving towards a Global Orientation of Sanskrit Studies.

13) Hyderabad based pharma giant Bharat Biotech has partnered with an international multidisciplinary consortium and is all set to receive a funding of US $19.3 million for the  the development of a ‘variant-proof’ coronavirus vaccine candidate that will provide protection against SARS-Cov-2 variants and other beta coronaviruses.

14) Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare launched Atal Innovation Mission- PRIME (Program for Researchers for Innovation, Market Readiness and Enterpreneurship) Playbook & Startup showcase at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi.
