1) Taking an imperative towards conserving the diversity of indigenous crops in the country, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar has inaugurated the world’s second-largest refurbished state-of-the-art National Gene Bank at the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), Pusa, New Delhi.

2) HCL Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of HCL Technologies launched an online portal, 'My e-Haat', to empower artisans and strengthen the value chain of the handicraft sector in the country.

3) State Bank of India has launched a special deposit scheme to mark the celebratory occasion of 75 years of Independence.

6) On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day of India on August 15, 2021, 144 Gallantry awards have been conferred on armed forces, police and paramilitary personnel, as approved by the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, President Ram Nath Kovind.

7) In Mizoram, 3rd Battalion of 23 sector Assam Rifles launched a video version of “Jana Gana Mana” sung by 5 years old prodigy Miss Esther Hnamte of Lunglei. The Assam Rifles has taken this effort as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate the 75 years of India's Independence.

17) With a network of solar-based electric vehicle charging stations, the Delhi-Chandigarh Highway has become the country’s first EV-friendly highway in the country.

20) To celebrate second anniversary of Fit India Movement and as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Anurag Singh Thakur launched the Fit India Mobile Application at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi on National Sports Day.

21) In a bid to assist unemployed youth in the state, the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Punjab government gave a nod to a new project, Mera Kaam Mera Maan (MKMM).

22) Uttrakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conducted an on-site inspection of Sahastradhara-Maldevta road, which had caved in as a river submerged it following a rise in water level of the river triggered by heavy rains.

32) Astronomers have discovered the fastest orbiting asteroid in the solar system. The asteroid has been dubbed as “2021 PH27” and it is 1 kilometer in diameter and completes its orbit in just 113 Earth days. 

➨The asteroid also gets extremely close to the Sun by reaching a proximity of about 20 million kilometers.

33) The labour ministry unveiled the National Database for Unorgansied Workers or e-Shram portal, which is a single platform for registering over 380 million unorganised workers including migrant workers and gig and platform workers.
